Welcome to Itty Bitty Kitty, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn
The streets of Brooklyn can be a rough place for cats and kittens. We do our best to support cat colonies through TNR and feeding, provide life-saving medical attention to ferals and rescue friendlies, but sometimes an urgent situation arises. With your support, we are able to respond to these crises as they arise.
Are you an experienced foster? IBKNY has several cats who need a hero to help them become adoption ready. These cats are friendly, but human shy and need a practiced foster to help them start to trust people and come of their shells so they will be ready for the good life. If that's you, fill out our application, and be sure to say you want to foster!
2020 was an extremely challenging year. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many of our partner veterinarians to curtail vital spay and neuter services available at low or no cost to rescue and TNR groups, like IBKNY. This has tragically led to a devastating spike in street kittens.
This means not only more street kittens needing rescuing, socialization, and critical veterinary care, but also a strain on available resources for older cats and community cats. To make matters worse, there has been a wave of abandoned cats across the city.
To meet this challenge, IBKNY is urgently seeking fosters who can temporarily house and care for cats and kittens in our care.
Fostering is a generous and rewarding act of compassion and care. And it is a perfect way to give back to the community--especially for people who find themselves working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
So, if you're looking for some companionship and a way to give back to your community, consider being a foster today!
Fill out our application for fostering or adoption, and join our family.
For the last several years, and thanks to the generosity of IBKNY supporters, we were fortunate to have a safe, warm space to hold our rescues and the ferals who we had trapped for spay/neuter or other medical treatment. Having a safe, secure, warm space is essential to enabling IBKNY to continue to respond to the tremendous need of supporting Bay Ridge's community, feral and stray cat population.
However, in 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, IBKNY lost our space. We began a hunt for a new donated space, but finding space and moving a cat rescue during a global pandemic is no easy feat. While we had to vacate the former space over the summer, we have yet to find a new donated space.
Thanks to the dedicated support of our network of fosters, we have been able to house all of the cats that were in our care in loving homes while we continue to work to find them their furever families.
But we still need a safe, reliable space and so we are looking to the community for your support. Please help IBKNY find our next safe, secure, warm space where we can host these precious kitties on their journeys to their purrmanent homes.
If you have a space you are willing to share, or know of a space where the owner may be willing to donate, contact us.
